The aim of the annual GIGA Global Transitions Conference is to bring together scholars and practitioners to address key issues of our times. In 2019, we want to explore the topic of economic statecraft.

The Leibniz Environment and Development Symposium (LEADS) aims to foster interdisciplinary exchange on global societal. This year’s LEADS will be hosted by the Economic Policy Lab “Climate Change, Development and Migration” in Essen on 27–28 November 2023.

This second MIASA policy conference (on 21–22 November 2023) is meant to provide a space for exchange between researchers, policymakers, development practitioners, and other stakeholders in development to present and discuss the most recent policy-relevant research findings on Africa’s economic development, its present patterns and future.

The Research Network on Sustainable Global Supply Chains partners with the Forum on Globalization and Industrialization (FGI), and the Learning and Knowledge Development Facility (LKDF) to convene a Forum organized under the theme “Skills for Sustainability in Global Supply Chains”.The event will take place on 13 and 14 November 2023 at the Vienna International Centre (VIC), in a hybrid format.

The German Federal Cabinet has recently approved the country’s first White Paper on Multilateralism, "Multilateralism for the People: Adapting the Multilateral Order to the 21st Century". In the course of this year, and with the help of forward-looking and collaborative tools, participants will explore and discuss new ideas beyond thought barriers and will test impulses to improve international cooperation and the effectiveness of the multilateral system.

The Observer Research Foundation, in collaboration with Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and the GIGA is organising an invitation-only roundtable on The Future of the World Order.
