New Global Partnerships

The global order is being reshaped by multiple crises and great power rivalry, but also by the growing agency of countries from across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East. For Germany, Europe, and partners worldwide, building relationships grounded in mutual interest, shared expertise, and genuine dialogue has become a necessity. New forms of cooperation are also emerging between countries of the Global South, as these states build various alliances increasingly impactful on global governance and regional dynamics.

New Global Partnerships

  • The GIGA’s research contributes to better understanding what issue-specific partnerships require and where durable cooperation is possible. In the year ahead, the Institute will bring these questions into focus through a dedicated thematic series of GIGA Focus publications spanning all world regions, alongside events examining both the global dynamics and regional particularities shaping new partnerships worldwide.
