According to estimates, in 2015 India will for the first time be the fastest-growing economy in the world. The government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has promoted India’s international visibility and improved relations with regional countries. Yet, formidable challenges for India’s foreign policy remain. Which role will India as a ‘rising power’ play in the world? Which challenges does India face within South Asia? And which values and ideational principles underpin Indian foreign policy?
