One of the main reasons for the slow processing of the visa applications of regular Sudanese people is the suspension and backlog of paperwork that resulted from the evacuation of diplomatic staff and internationals at the beginning of the clashes, Hager Ali said.

On 5 December 2022, a framework agreement was signed between the Sudanese military and civilian political parties. The deal aims to end the political crisis triggered by the military coup. However, the agreement is rejected across Sudan’s political spectrum from both anti-coup and pro-coup forces.
