The GIGA journal Africa Spectrum and the University of the Free State in Bloemfontein, South Africa, are inviting submissions for the third Young African Scholar Award.

The GIGA journal Africa Spectrum is calling for proposals for the third Young African Scholar Award, to be submitted by 30 September 2018. The journal invites submissions from current doctoral students and early-career researchers within five years of having been awarded their PhD, who are based at institutions in sub-Saharan Africa. Sharing a commitment to African capacity building in African Studies, the partner institutions established the first annual Young African Scholar Award in 2015.
