Starting a PhD can feel both inspiring and overwhelming. In this compact workshop, new GIGA researchers will learn how to begin their doctoral journey, navigate challenges along the way, and successfully complete their dissertation. Participants will explore what a dissertation really entails, develop strategies for building a constructive relationship with supervisors, and discover ways to stay organized and productive while safeguarding their mental well-being. The session also includes short exercises and offers space for new doctoral candidates to exchange ideas and get to know each other.
Date & Time
The course will take place in person at the GIGA in Hamburg on 9th October 2025 from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm. Please note that this course is GIGA internal only.
