The GIGA is a member of the Leibniz Association – a network of 89 independent German research institutes from various disciplines that engage in knowledge- and application-oriented fundamental research. GIGA doctoral students benefit from regular exchanges and annual meetings with doctoral students from other Leibniz institutes and from the GIGA’s cooperation with a variety of international partners.

Our doctoral students further benefit from the GIGA’s participation in Power and Region in a Multipolar Order (PRIMO) – an EU-funded Marie Curie Initial Training Network. Additionally, the GIGA Doctoral Programme is a partner in the Marie Skłodowska-Curie European Joint Doctorate programme on Globalisation, Europe and Multilateralism – Sophistication of the Transnational Order, Networks and European Strategies (GEM-STONES) submitted to the EU in January 2016.
