This introduction presents an overview of articles exploring radical leftist politics in the Third World/Global South, with a focus in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and Latin America. This issue features contributions from authors examining various dimensions of a diverse radical left across the two regions.

This paper examines the impact of Frantz Fanon’s decolonial ideas on the Moroccan Left from the late 1960s to the Arab uprisings. It highlights the engagement of key figures and movements, and the subtle, lasting influence on Moroccan political thought, while noting recent limited reemergence of Fanon’s ideas.

Relevance is a key concept in the study of political parties. This article argues that the conceptions of relevance used in the study of political oppositions in authoritarian settings need to be clarified and reformulated.
