Dr. Lea Müller-Funk, migration researcher at the GIGA, is the winner of the IMISCOE - Rinus Penninx Best Paper Award 2019, which she received for her article "Investigating mobility aspirations of refugees in fragile political contexts: Ethical reflections and methodological choices" in February at the IMISCOE conference in Lisbon (Portugal).
Research with refugees poses particular ethical challenges. In her paper Lea Müller-Funk analyses to what extent security measures and ethical considerations influence and shape methodological decisions. The article will be published in the Journal of Refugee Studies.
IMISCOE is the largest European network of scientists in the field of migration and integration and awards one outstanding paper every year.
