GIGA scholars presented their latest research results at the annual conference of the International Studies Association.
Scholars from the German Institute for Global and Area Studies (GIGA) presented their latest research results at the annual conference of the International Studies Association (ISA). Topics ranged from the relevant actors in emigration policy to the role of religion in international relations, the significance of regional powers, and mediation in various conflict situations .
The GIGA hosted a welcome reception, where Prof. Detlef Nolte and Dr. Christian von Soest greeted the more than 100 guests from all over the world, who engaged in lively exchange with GIGA scholars. The GIGA reception also served as a meeting point for the German academic community.
Representing 100 countries, ISA has over 6,500 members worldwide and is the most respected and widely known scholarly association in this field. The GIGA is a regular contributor to the annual meeting of the ISA and utilises this forum for scholarly exchange and to plan international research projects. The 58th annual meeting took place in Baltimore, MD, United States, from 22 to 25 February 2017.
