Demands and Intractability: How Issue Complexity Impacts the Sustainbility of Intrastate Peace

Fragile Lives 2024 / AFK Methods Section Workshop 2024, Humboldt University Berlin, Berlin Cornelius Haritz (Speaker)

Many countries that saw one civil war see a recurrence of fighting. Is it more likely that parties fight again, if the issues of conflict are more complex? This paper reveals that overall complexity does not matter, but a reduction of complexity during war makes subsequent peace more robust.
