Measuring the Global Response to Antimicrobial Resistance, 2020–21: A Systematic Governance Analysis of 114 Countries

National action plans (NAPs) are the primary mechanism for guiding national strategy and action for antimicrobial resistance governance. Although several NAPs have been developed, no comprehensive content analysis of these plans exists. Using a governance framework, we aimed to assess all publicly available NAPs on antimicrobial resistance.

Fighting Antimicrobial Resistance: Development and Implementation of the Ghanaian National Action Plan (2017–2021)

In recent years, Ghana has been recognised as a leading player in addressing antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in Africa. However, based on our literature review, we could not ascertain whether the core elements of the national action plan (NAP) were implemented in practice. In this paper, we present a qualitative analysis of the development of AMR-related policies in Ghana, including the NAP.

INFECTIONS in an Urbanizing World - Humans, Animals, Environments

The Leibniz Research Alliance INFECTIONS promotes interdisciplinary research across several sections of the Leibniz Association. It focuses on the spread of antimicrobial resistant (AMR) microbes in an urbanizing society. This is a topical issue since a number of endemic infectious diseases are the leading cause of disease and mortality worldwide. In addition, humanity is increasingly challenged by emerging infectious agents that are often zoonotic in nature, such as the coronavirus outbreak.

Infections '21. Transmission Control of Infections in the 21st Century

As the Coronavirus pandemic dramatically shows, infections can have severe consequences worldwide. The Leibniz Research Alliance "Infections '21" was founded in 2015 with the goal of studying ways to better control, prevent and fight infectious illnesses and has swiftly adapted to the Covid-19-related challenges. The GIGA is a founding member of this alliance and deals with the access to medicines and vaccines as well as health as a global public good.
