Description
The dataset comprises 11,233 greenfield foreign direct investment (FDI) projects between 2013 and 2020 in 54 African countries. The dataset contains information on the origin of investors and destination of investment projects, investment amount and jobs created, project status and type, and year of announcement and operationalisation. In addition, for each project, the corresponding sector is available at the two, three, and four-digit level of the ISIC Rev. 4 classification. The dataset combines greenfield FDI projects listed by fDi Markets and Orbis Crossborder Investment, the two leading commercial provider of greenfield project-level FDI data, following a multi-step matching procedure. Detailed information on the matching procedure is available through supportive documentation and is also captured in the dataset.
