The new shelves have already arrived: Following renovation work, the institute’s own regional specialist libraries, based at the GIGA’s main office, are moving to new rooms. The move will see the collections on Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, and international topics brought together within a larger space. New and improved user workstations with online access, including access to licensed items from the GIGA Information Centre’s catalogue, have also been set up.
The Asia collection will continue to be accessible at the GIGA Institute for Asian Studies on Rothenbaumchaussee.
Due to the move, the libraries will be closed from 8 to 15 April.
As of 16 April the libraries’ staff will welcome you once again – on the second floor of the GIGA building at 21 Neuer Jungfernstieg.
It will be possible to search the online catalogue throughout the entire closure: https://www.giga-hamburg.de/en/research-and-transfer/information-centre/. The return date for books borrowed from 5 April on will be extended to 16 April.
