    • Discussing how conditions of knowledge production have shifted around the world

    • Exchanging ideas about transferring scientific knowledge to the public, media, and policymakers

    • Exchanging ideas and experiences about the impact of the current pandemic and the Ukraine crisis on projects in these three funding lines and discussing how to continue doing research under conditions of crises

World Order Narratives of the Global South (WONAGO)

The decades since the late twentieth century are marked by the end of the bipolar world order and the rise of countries of the Global South. Most explanations focus on political and economic power shifts and do not pay much attention to ideas of order, especially those prevalent in the Global South. To provide a more inclusive perspective, this project researches world order narratives in Latin America, Africa, Middle East and Asia. It is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research as part of its Area Studies strategy.

What happened to Latin American ideas outside of Latin America during the sixties? Was Latin America a centre of production of ideas and practices? Was the continent a centre of the global sixties? Is it possible to tell a polycentric story of the sixties?
