Cooperation Event
23/11/2016 - 24/11/2016
At the seventh Hamburg Summit: China Meets Europe, leading business and political representatives from China and Europe will discuss the most important issues in Sino–European economic relations. The GIGA German Institute of Global Studies is the academic partner of the summit, which has developed into the most important Chinese–European economic conference since it first took place in 2004.
Central to the conference’s discussions and keynote talks – alongside current economic developments in the People’s Republic – will be the Chinese president’s “new Silk Road” initiative, investment flows between the EU and China, and the digitalisation of the economy in Europe and China.
High-ranking representatives of the Chinese government, EU institutions, and the German government are expected to participate once again this year. The Chinese co-organisers, the industrial federation CFIE and the service-providers’ federation CATIS, will send two large and high-ranking business delegations from China to Hamburg.
The GIGA Institute for Asian Studies is one of the leading European institutes for research on Asia. Since 1956 it has studied political, economic, and societal developments in the region. You will find an overview of the current research in our China Online Dossier.
