  • The first Indo-German Strategic Dialogue is an initiative of the Foreign Offices of both countries to foster exchange between think tanks and research institutions in the framework of the Indo-German intergovernmental consultations. It was hosted on 1 November 2019 in New Delhi. Asked to collaborate are the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA), the Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS), Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik (SWP), and German Institute for Global and Area Studies (GIGA) (GIGA).

Creating dialogue on different issue areas and involving experts is not only a signal about the wholeheartedness with which the consultations are carried out, it also is an important step forward in strengthening the bond that exist between the two nations.

This strategic dialogue is a chance to learn more about and from each other, and use these insights in turn to help strengthen the official partnership. It aims to develop recommendations to help shape convincing, impactful, and sustainable policies.
