  • The struggle for gender equality has remained hard to overcome for many MENA countries. Gender-based violence, lack of equal opportunities for economic activities, and deprivation from political participation and representation have been on the long list of such challenges. This event brings together experts in the field to share insights and analyses on the persistent gender inequalities across the region.

This event is part of the Mediterranean Dialogues (MED) Panels by the Italian Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI).

Speakers: Dr. Rana Hendy is an assistant professor at the School of Global Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) of the American University in Cairo.

Dr. Burcu Ucaray-Mangitli is a researcher at Göttingen University.

Dr. Tatyana Teplova is head of division and senior counsellor for gender equality, justice and inclusiveness at the OECD Public Governance Directorate.

Chair: Dr. Sara Bazoobandi is Marie Curie Fellow at the GIGA and Associate Research Fellow at ISPI.
