The Federal Foreign Office and the GIGA

The GIGA maintains a close consultancy relationship with the Federal Foreign Office (FFO). It encourages its scholars to undertake research stays at the FFO and participates in ambassadors’ conferences and diplomatic training. Regular discussion groups at the FFO:

Workshop Series

Over the course of 2012, the GIGA conducted three workshops under the banner of “German and European Policy and Global Power Shifts” together with the FFO’s policy-planning staff. The workshops, attended by decision makers, served to develop concrete proposals for new strategies in dealing with new regional powers and to advise on the use of innovative formats and tools for cooperation. Senior researchers, ministry officials, and association representatives were invited to each of the events.
