Working in a Team

Collaboration within different teams is of great importance in today's working world. Teamwork is particularly an issue when it does not work. As a member of a team, you ask yourself: Where do I stand with my skills and experience? What roles do I take on or assume? How can I best contribute to a team? What do I really need to be successful and happy with my team? How can critical issues be raised? How can a team become capable of reflection and self-control? What conflicts arise in teams? What strategies do I have to deal with and resolve these conflicts? How do I resolve conflicts with a colleague? How do I address issues with my line manager? How do I deal with conflicts as a manager?

These questions can certainly not be answered comprehensively for each individual person in a single seminar. This workshop offers an initial impulse and first approaches to address this complex topic and to critically question oneself. In interactive exercises and subsequent questions are raised and perspectives and assumptions are questioned. Different perspectives are offered from which a situation can be viewed. Concrete analyses of conflict cases are used to develop strategies for finding solutions.

The course will take place in person at the GIGA in Hamburg on the 7th November 2024, from 9 am to 5:00 pm. Please note that this course is GIGA internal only.

About the lecturer

Katja Wolter M.A. studied Business Administration at the University of Applied Sciences Stralsund and John-Moores-University in Liverpool (England). She was working in Finance for an international Company in Frankfurt am Main, Consultant of the Administrative Director of Rundfunk Berlin Brandenburg (rbb), Director of Finance and Controlling at Deutsche Entertainment AG in Berlin and in a Project Management Organisation in the field of Biotechnology. Since 2013 she is Head of Steinbeis Research Center – Institute of Resource Development, Greifswald.
