This one-hour introductory course aims at helping early career researchers to develop their knowledge and skills regarding research data management. The topics that will be introduced in this course are organized along the research cycle starting from proposal planning and writing as well as project start up over the data life cycle (including data collection, data analysis and data sharing) to the end of a research project, data archiving and data discovery. By participating in this course, you will learn more about the following issues:
Why and how to manage research data
How to write a research data management plan
Exploring existing data sources
Documenting research data and defining metadata.
Sharing and archiving research data
Ethical and legal aspects during data collection and data sharing
The course builds on the workshops on "Best Practices in Data Sharing" given in the RPs in March and April 2024. Prior participation in the workshops is encouraged.
Dates
The course will take place in person at the GIGA in Hamburg from 1 - 2 pm on 17th April 2024. Please note that this course is GIGA internal only.
