This short course explores skills, techniques and practices for high quality field research that generates quanitative and mixed methods data in Political Science. Topics include funding, ethics, survey data, behavioural measures and partnerships/collaboration. The course involves both reading, seminar discussion and practical exercises for researchers who intend to conduct research that will generate quantitative data as well as for those who evaluate and learn from research based on these methods.
Dates
The course will take place in person on 19 and 20 April 2023 from 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm and 09:00 am - 3:00 pm. Further information will be provided to the participants after successful registration.
About the lecturer
Alexandra Hartman is an Associate Professor in Political Science at the University College London. She studied Political Science (MA, PhD) at Yale University, and International Relations (BA) at Brown University. Her research focuses on the political economy of institutions in fragile states. Her work uses a range of research designs and data collection strategies, including large-scale randomised control trials, surveys, and in-depth interviews and observation.
