04:00 p.m. (CEST)
This GIGA session presents and discusses interdisciplinarity in practice, its promises and also potential pitfalls. It draws on the first experiences of MECAM, the Merian Center for Advanced Studies in the Maghreb, which is located in Tunisia and of which GIGA has been a central network partner since 2020. In addition to interregionality and intergenerationality, interdisciplinarity is one of MECAM’s guiding principles. The seminar will outline how interdisciplinarity is designed within MECAM and how it is practically implemented, drawing on the first-hand insights of the interdisciplinary fellow group on “Identities & Beliefs”, which has been co-led by the presenters since early March 2022.
