GIGA Session on Interdisciplinary Research Writ Large: The GLACIER project

This GIGA session presents and discusses interdisciplinarity in practice, its promises, challenges and potential pitfalls. It draws on the first experiences of the GLACIER project, the “German-Latin American Centre of Infectioun & Epidemiology Research & Training”, a large network encompassing 18 higher education institutions, research institutes and public stakeholders from eight Latin American countries as well as eight higher education institutions from Germany. The presenter has been a part of this project from the planning stage onward, with the GIGA playing a central role in the social science side of this truly broad interdisciplinary endeavor.

Dates

The GIGA Session will take place in person on 17 May 2023 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. Further information will be provided to the participants after successful registration.  

About the lecturer

Bert Hoffmann (he/his) is Lead Research Fellow at the GIGA Institute for Latin American Studies, Head of the GIGA Berlin Office, and Professor of Political Science at Freie Universität Berlin.
