CAS & Global Studies I: Growth and Development: Basic concepts, measurement and data

The purpose of the course is to provide students with a short general introduction in basic concepts used in the study of “development and growth”. Particular reference will be made to measurement and data issues. Starting from these insights, the course will present two examples of GIGA research projects in this area, their research design and results. In these presentations, emphasis will be put on empirical operationalization and the practicalities of (quantitative) data collection and analysis.
