Outreach Assistant for the Project “Transfer for Transformation (T4T)”

    Outreach Assistant

    Applications are invited for a full-time position, with a contract of 3 years, starting as soon as possible. The salary is commensurate with EG 9b TV-AVH / TVöD.

    The successful candidate will work in the project Transfer for Transformation (T4T) under the lead of Prof. Amrita Narlikar. T4T is funded via a grant won in a competition of the Leibniz Association and is a generator of transfer innovation. Knowledge exchange is a priority at the GIGA. We engage continuously with key target audiences – incl. the Federal Foreign Office – and have developed a range of outreach formats. Topics covered by T4T are complex global transformations that will shape future global order, including digitalisation in international relations. We work with a focus on the Global South and seek to bring perspectives from the regions to the forefront in academic and public debate. T4T is conceived of as an application lab. It will develop new transfer concepts and put them to practice. T4T will also advance the scholarship on the subject by analysing under what conditions, some forms of transfer are more impactful than others.

    As administrator of the transfer services, tasks will include:

    • Work within the project with the PI, and also in collaboration with the GIGA communications team

    • Work with information graphics, photos, recordings, etc.

    • Process the commissioning of visualisations of research questions and results

    • Contribute to the implementation of innovative event formats for a global audience

    • Prepare overview of best (visualisation) practices in science communications

    • Document the activities and results of the T4T application lab

    • Contribute to the further development of the transfer concept and guidelines

    Mandatory qualifications:

    • Successful completion of degree in marketing/graphic design or equivalent

    • Relevant technical expertise (e.g., standard Adobe CC programmes and others)

    • English- and German-language proficiency

    • Interest in social science research and global developments

    • Diligence, keen eye for details

    Desired qualifications:

    • Relevant work experience in science communication / social media / marketing / PR

    • Experience in project management and feedback analysis

    • Background in social sciences is an asset

    • Intercultural sensitivity
