Virtual Remembrance Event to Daniel Flemes

The GIGA Institute for Latin American Studies would like to honor Dr. Daniel Flemes and remember him. We invite friends and colleagues in Germany, Europe, and Latin America who had the chance to work with him to participate in a virtual event to take place on 30 October, at 5:00–6:30 p.m. (German time). During this remembrance event, participants will have the opportunity to share memories and to pay tribute to Daniel in their language of choice.

Please let us know by Wednesday, 28 October, if you are interested in participating in this virtual remembrance event by sending an email to Stephanie (ilas@giga-hamburg.de). She will send you the link for the meeting (via Zoom). Also, please let her know if you plan to speak. You will still have an opportunity to do so even if you didn't inform us beforehand, of course, but this information will allow us to structure the event. Also, we ask that you please 'arrive' on time and stay for the duration of the event.

Das GIGA Institut für Lateinamerika-Studien möchte Dr. Daniel Flemes gedenken. Zu der virtuellen Veranstaltung am 30. Oktober von 17:00 bis 18:30 Uhr (MEZ) laden wir Freundinnen und Freunde und Kolleginnen und Kollegen aus Deutschland, Europa und Lateinamerika ein, die die Chance hatten, mit Daniel zusammenzuarbeiten. Die Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer dieser Gedenkveranstaltung erhalten die Möglichkeit, in der Sprache ihrer Wahl miteinander Erinnerungen zu teilen oder Daniel zu würdigen.

Bitte lassen Sie uns bis Mittwoch, 28. Oktober, per E-Mail an Stephanie Stoevesand (ilas@giga-hamburg.de) wissen, ob Sie teilnehmen wollen. Sie erhalten dann den Link zur Veranstaltung (per Zoom). Teilen Sie bitte auch mit, ob Sie bei der Veranstaltung sprechen möchten. Auch wenn Sie das nicht vorab sagen, erhalten Sie während der Veranstaltung selbstverständlich die Möglichkeit, das Wort zu ergreifen. Die Vorabinformation ermöglicht es uns aber, die Veranstaltung zu strukturieren. Wir möchten Sie außerdem darum bitten, zu der Veranstaltung pünktlich zu erscheinen und während des gesamten Zeitraums zu bleiben.

O Instituto GIGA de Estudos Latino-Americanos gostaria de prestar homenagens e de lembrar a vida do Dr. Daniel Flemes. Convidamos a todos os amigos e colegas, na Europa e na América Latina que tiveram a oportunidade de trabalhar com ele para participarem de um evento virtual, que acontecerá no dia 30 de outubro, das 17h às 18h30 (horário alemão). Nesta cerimônia, os participantes terão a oportunidade de compartilhar memórias e de prestar homenagem ao Daniel no idioma de sua escolha.

Caso tenha interesse em participar, muito agradeceríamos informar a Stephanie por e-mail até quarta-feira, 28 de outubro (ilas@giga-hamburg.de). Ela enviará o link para encontro (via Zoom) . Caso deseje falar, por favor informar Stephanie no corpo da mensagem, para que possamos melhor estruturar o evento. Caso decida posteriormente, você ainda assim terá a oportunidade de fazê-lo, mesmo que não nos tenha informado com antecedência. Pedimos também aos participantes que sejam pontuais e que permaneçam durante todo a cerimônia.

Invitamos a amigas, amigos y colegas de Alemania, Europa y América Latina que tuvieron la oportunidad de trabajar con él a participar en un evento virtual que tendrá lugar el 30 de octubre de 17:00-18:30 (hora alemana). Durante este evento conmemorativo, los participantes tendrán la oportunidad de compartir remembranzas y rendir homenaje a Daniel en el idioma de su preferencia.

Por favor, avísenos máximo hasta el miércoles 28 de octubre si estaría interesada(o) en participar, enviando un correo a Stephanie (ilas@giga-hamburg.de), quien enviará el enlace para la reunión (a través de Zoom) . Además, avísele a Stephanie si le gustaría hablar en el evento. Por supuesto, tendrá oportunidad de hacerlo espontáneamente sin habernos informado de antemano, pero tener esta información previamente nos permitirá estructurar mejor el evento. Finalmente, le pedimos atentamente “llegar” a tiempo y quedarse durante la duración del evento.
