Changing Asia 2017: Perspectives on Regional and Global Cooperation

Date

15/09/2017 - 18/09/2017

  • The Changing Asia 2017 conference will bring together around 30 international scholars to discuss the implications of the rise of China and India on both regional governance and global governance. The conference builds on the successful inaugural Changing Asia conference, which was held in Hamburg in April 2015. A particular focus of this year’s conference lies on the state and perspectives of cooperation and competition between India and China in Asia and beyond. Participants include scholars from the GIGA and its institutional cooperation partners in China (CFAU), India (IDSA), and the US (UVA) who will be joined by a number of university and think tank scholars from Germany, India, Sweden, the UK, and New Zealand. The conference will be followed by policy roundtable discussion, involving Indian policymakers, at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi.
