The aim of the annual GIGA Global Transitions Conference is to bring together scholars and practitioners to address key issues of our times. In 2019, we want to explore the topic of economic statecraft.

This second MIASA policy conference (on 21–22 November 2023) is meant to provide a space for exchange between researchers, policymakers, development practitioners, and other stakeholders in development to present and discuss the most recent policy-relevant research findings on Africa’s economic development, its present patterns and future.

The German Federal Cabinet has recently approved the country’s first White Paper on Multilateralism, "Multilateralism for the People: Adapting the Multilateral Order to the 21st Century". The Körber Multilateralism Lab aims to bring together a small group of influential policy experts, public officials and academics through a series of (virtual) meetings in a confidential setting. In the course of this year, and with the help of forward-looking and collaborative tools, participants will explore and discuss new ideas beyond thought barriers and will test impulses to improve international cooperation and the effectiveness of the multilateral system.

The Observer Research Foundation, in collaboration with Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and the GIGA is organising an invitation-only roundtable on The Future of the World Order. This roundtable is designed to host Members of Parliament, government officials, and experts from India and Germany to debate and ideate the contours of a post-pandemic world.
