• Studium der Afrikanistik mit Schwerpunkt Wirtschaft, Politik und Gesellschaft, Nebenfächer Kulturwissenschaften und Musikwissenschaft an der Universität Leipzig (2000-2006); Magisterarbeit zum Thema "Migration als ökonomische Bewältigungsstrategien von Haushalten in Kenia"
• Dissertationsthema: Risk Management Strategies and Financial Markets in Rural Ghana (Prof. Dr. Tilman Brück)
