The IAA conducts research on current socio-economic and political developments in Sub-Saharan Africa. The research mainly focuses on medium and long-term developments as well as on tendencies of more immediate effect on politics, economy, and society. Currently there are four Research Programmes at the GIGA, in which all research projects of the IAA are integrated.
While other research institutes mainly limit their work on certain regions and academic disciplines the IAA’s work is based on a broad interdisciplinary approach which analyses the respective sub-regional characteristics of the African countries using adequate methods. |
