Welcome to the website of the Europe and Latin America Section (ELAS) of the Latin American Studies Association (LASA). LASA is the largest professional association in the world for individuals and institutions engaged in the study of Latin America.
LASA’s Europe and Latin America Section serves to promote, on a multi-disciplinary basis, scholarly relations between Latin Americanists from Europe and the Americas, and it fosters research on the relation and comparison of Europe and Latin America. Traditionally it sponsors two panels at each LASA congress. To become a member of ELAS, in addition to being affiliated with LASA, you should subscribe to the Section when you fill in the LASA regular form (either annually or every three years, as you wish). You can do it any time at LASA's website. This site is also intended to serve as a research tool for scholars, students and practitioners interested in European-Latin Amercian affairs, it contains links to academic and institutional resources on the web. Feel free to send us suggestions and news that you consider useful to be circulated: .
