Cooperation

The GIGA Institute of Asian Studies (IAS) is the only non-university research institute in Germany that exclusively deals with the countries of Asia. Its network of cooperating institutions includes all those research units within and outside the universities concerned with Asia. Special links exist with the East Asia sections of the universities of Bremen, Duisburg and Trier and the German Institute for Japanese Studies in Tokyo. A cooperation agreement exists with the University of Hamburg.

European Alliance for Asian Studies:

Together with the International Institute of Asian Studies (IIAS) in Leiden, the Nordic Institute of Asian Studies (NIAS) in Copenhagen, the European Institute of Asian Studies (EIAS) in Brussels, the Asia Europe Centre (AEC) in Paris, the Centro de Estudios de Asia Oriental (CEAO) in Madrid, the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London and the Swedish School of Advanced Asia Pacific Studies in Stockholm (SSAAPS) the IAS forms the "European Alliance for Asian Studies".
